Taste the Island

On the beautiful, garden island of Kauai, three friends sat under a papaya tree watching the surf. As they feasted on the fresh fruits that grew so abundantly around them, a dream was born. One day they would share this tastier, healthier way of life with the world.

The Children's Hospital Trust

The Fundraising Arm of the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital

Since the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital was built in 1956 it has been saving lives and giving a future to chronically sick children. It is the only specialist Hospital dedicated entirely to children in southern Africa and manages its 250 000 patient visits a year with tender love and expert care. Sick children are referred from all over South Africa, and Africa, and 98% come from disadvantaged communities. For over 50 years, the Hospital has and continues to push the limits in areas like research, training and specialist care- to find solutions to seemingly impossible medical illnesses - which positively can change children's lives forever.

You can help by visiting the Children's Hospital Trust website and becoming a Facebook fan and sharing inspirational stories of hope.

KAUAI supports this admirable cause by catering for fundraising events, as well as treating the kids and dedicated hospital staff to some tasty KAUAI treats. Our Aloha spirit always helps bring smiles to their faces.

Chaeli Campaign – Hope in Motion

The Chaeli Campaign was founded on 6 August 2004 by five girls between the ages of 6 and 12. Chaeli Mycroft, her sister (Erin) and lifelong friends, the Terry sisters (Tarryn, Justine and Chelsea) started The Chaeli Campaign to raise R20 000 for Chaeli's motorised wheelchair. They managed to do this in 7 weeks by selling cards with Erin & Chaeli's artwork on them and Sunshine Pots (DIY miniature pot plants).

Although Chaeli is the face of The Chaeli Campaign, the spirit on which this organisation is based, is the teamwork that exists amongst the five founding members. Their mission is to mobilise the minds and bodies of children with disabilities and to normalise society through advocacy and education programmes and events.

KAUAI supported the Chaeli Campaign by sponsoring Sheena Crawford-Kempster, Director of Reddam House, who was one of the Chaeli Riders in the 2011 Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour.
